Today I want to share the brilliance of favorite author Michael Connelly.
Michael Connelly is the author of the Harry Bosch series (24 books and counting), the Lincoln Lawyer series, Renee Ballard, and more. While I find all of his books compelling, I am most drawn to Harry Bosch.
Harry, like all of Connelly’s protagonists, are driven by a deep sense of morality. For Harry, it’s always about doing right by victims. He even has a motto: Everybody counts or nobody counts.
Connelly’s writing style isn’t flashy. He tells the story in a straightforward, detailed manner. Police and courtroom procedures seem realistic but not ho hum. These details may be interrupted by a flash of violence or a bombshell plot twist.
Connelly must be one of the more successful authors in navigating the transition from book to TV and movies — he’s now on his fourth TV series, and they’ve all been very popular.
Start Harry Bosch wherever you want, but don’t skip the old stuff. I hope you love him as much as I.
