What better way to start an author website than paying homage to the authors that have given me so much inspiration. So here’s the first of My Favorite Author series:
John Sandford 

John Sandford (real name John Camp) is the author of the “Prey” series of 36 crime fiction books (#36 Revenge Prey comes out this April.) The series features Lucas Davenport, a smart, tough, and not always squeaky clean, law enforcement officer. Lucas’ daughter, Letty is the main character of another series of books, as is Virgil Flowers, a fellow Minnesota-based officer in yet another series. 
Sandford is 81 years old and keeps putting out great book after great book. 
The books are crime fiction: often dark, violent, but with humor and great characters.
Why I love these books:
The dialogue is incredible, as good as Elmore Leonard, in my opinion. The characters are very interesting and completely believable. Little details of daily life, conversations, habits, etc., make them more human and relatable. And they’re funny—not comedic, just possessing normal, intelligent senses of humor.

He also writes some of the best villains imaginable. Sometimes brilliant, sometimes stupid, often likeable, sometimes terrifying.

If you were to start the series, I’d suggest starting somewhere mid-series, maybe Naked Prey, where Letty is introduced. Once you’re hooked you can go back and start the series in order.

I’ve read the entire Prey series twice and am two-thirds through round three.
